Your No Counts

Scenario 2: Corruption in the Private Sector

Many small and medium sized companies have been hit hard by the pandemic and are uncertain if they can survive in these times of crises. Many states around the world have issued economic stimulus packages to provide struggling businesses with opportunities, which could help them to cope with COVID-19 necessitated lockdowns.

However, previous experiences with economic resources disbursed by public officials under huge time constraints have shown an increased risk of corruption and requests for bribes, particularly if there are insufficient accountability and oversight measures in place.

Alone, a small business can do little in fighting corruption. Collective action is needed for an inclusive and accountable recovery and to promote a fair business environment. To RECOVER with INTEGRITY, transparency and oversight must not be traded for speed of rapid response and impact.
